What is life insurance?

Life insurance is a financial cushion that will look after your loved ones when you are no longer around & is designed to provide a financial safety net.

Your loved ones can use the money however they like, but often it helps to pay off an outstanding mortgage or cover rent, household bills and living costs. We call it protection, it’s a cushion in case life suddenly throws a curveball your way.

The different types of life insurance:

  • Term life insurance – A policy that runs for a specific amount of time
  • Whole of life insurance – This offers a guaranteed payout, no matter when you die
  • Joint life insurance – A combined policy for you and your partner that only pays out once the first person dies
  • Over 50’s life insurance – A whole of life policy specifically designed for people Over the age of 50

Do I need life insurance?

If you’re young, rent and don’t have kids, it might be better to consider income protection insurance or critical illness cover, to cover yourself should you get sick and / or can’t work.
